Landscape Volunteer Opportunities at The Florida Botanical Gardens
Landscape volunteer opportunities at the Florida Botanical Gardens involve working in a group that assists the Parks Department staff to maintain the landscape at the Florida Botanical Gardens. This work is outdoors in the garden landscape and requires the ability to perform normal garden tasks such as mulching, weeding and planting new plants.
We have volunteer opportunities Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to noon.

Volunteer at the Holiday Lights in the Garden Event.
It’s a lot of fun! From the day after Thanksgiving to December 31 the Gardens come alive from 5:30pm to 9:30pm with over 750,000 LED lights. It is our biggest fund raising event of the year and you can be part of it as a greeter or sales person. Greeters are needed at one of our three entrances and to accept donations from our visitors, stamp hands, manage the visitor count, give directions and make folks feel at home. The sales person makes sales from our outdoor gift cart which is full of fun things for children and those who are young at heart.
Gift Shop Volunteers
Working for the FBG Foundation Gift Shop is a low-stress opportunity, in a beautiful place, with wonderful people. As a volunteer, you will conduct sales transactions, help the customers, and interact with visitors as a “goodwill ambassador” for the Gardens and the Foundation. Year-round residents are preferred, as we need the consistency. All proceeds from the sales benefit the Gardens.
The gift shop is located in the foyer of the Pinellas County Building, located in the parking lot of the Botanical Gardens at 12520 Ulmerton Road in Largo.
The day is divided into two shifts: 10 am to 1:30 pm and 1:30 to 5PM. A commitment of one shift per week is required. During our annual Holiday Lights in the Garden (the day after Thanksgiving to December 31, the shop is open in the evening from 5 pm to 9:30 pm. Gift Shop volunteers are asked to pick two to three evening shits to help during this event.
No previous sales experience is required, but reliability is extremely important to our success.
