About the Majeed Discovery Garden

The Majeed Discovery Garden is a free and accessible children’s garden, located inside the Florida Botanical Gardens. On any day of the week, kids can be seen playing on the Trunk Jump, crossing the Bamboo Bridge, climbing on Pollinator Landing, or creating structures with the Imagination Blocks. An Art Line displays the creative works of art produced in this natural setting, while the Roots n Shoots potting area helps provide a memorable plant experience. Garden areas are pictured below.

Preschool educational activities, designed to challenge and engage small children, are held in and around the Outdoor Classroom. This space is also available for rentals. The Outdoor Classroom in perfect for birthday parties, baby showers, and more.

The Majeed Discovery Garden is a place for hands-on education and play in an outdoor setting, with a goal to connect children of all ages and abilities to nature.

Features of the Majeed Discovery Garden

Bamboo Bridge

A playful, explorative experience through an existing tall, timber bamboo grove, the bridge gives access from Stick Figures to the Music Forest.

Roots n Shoots

Adjacent to the Outdoor Classroom, this area includes raised beds for plantings, and all the tools needed to teach children the lifecycle of plants.

Pollinator Landing

A multipurpose structure for climbing, with a stage setting for presentations and skits. A storage locker may contain dress-up clothing and puppets.

Imagination Play Blocks

This feature from Imagination Playground allows children to engineer their play space, encouraging learning, social development, movement, and above all fun.

Music Forest

This space holds a variety of life-size musical instruments designed by Percussion Play, which includes chimes and drums.

Outdoor Classroom

This is a special space for educational programming, birthday parties, field trips, and other rentals. Our Children's Garden Educator is always hosting fun activities in the Majeed Discovery Garden. See the Event Calendar to register for a program today.

Sensory Curtain

These bamboo hanging curtains line a short path for children to pass through for a fun and stimulating multi-sensory experience.

Art Line

This is a place for kids to display artwork that they've created in the Majeed Discovery Garden.

Water Pump

An old-fashioned hand pump for children to utilize for plantings, during activities, to wet their hands, and connect to a time generations before them.

Trunk Jump

A test of balance and strength for a challenging adventure of jumping and climbing.

RainKeep

Specially designed by artist Allison Newsome, this rain barrel is located near the Outdoor Classroom. Learn more about the RainKeep here.

Ti Gate

This area with large, steel floral art greets visitors at the main entrance to the Majeed Discovery Garden.

The Majeed Discovery Garden is a place for children to learn and explore, free to the public, and open to residents and visitors of Pinellas County.
