Message from
the Foundation President
Our newsletters are one way of keeping our
Master Gardeners and friends up to date on
what is going on in the Florida Botanical
Gardens.
The Green Leaf newsletter is published monthly
for our Master Gardeners, Volunteers and
Foundation members as a benefit to all.
The Master Gardener Program is supported by
the University of Florida (IFAS), and their
website contains archive issues of newsletters
from prior years. Visit their link
to add to your current tidbits and garden
tips.
The Florida Botanical Gardens Foundation also
publishes a newsletter with news of
Foundation activities that support the
Gardens. The annual Holiday Lights, Gift
and Plant Sale, and Dog Parade event are our
biggest fund raiser sand the newsletter
provides extensive coverage of all the
activities surrounding these events. The
Foundation also has other activities and
events such as a Spring Fine Arts Event which
are described in the newsletters. Your
membership money at work also maintains and
adds new stations to our Children's Trail and
new gardens such as a new vinery area.
In the last year, we have added another
publication, My Gardens, written by one of our
active Master Gardeners, Richard Berube, whose
daily activities in the gardens involve
selection, maintenance, and care of the many
species in the gardens. Richard talks
about what new plants and trees have been
added to the garden and changes to upgrade and
supplement the regular gardens, putting a
little more sparkle into the Florida Botanical
Gardens.
We are proud of our newsletters and invite you
to download them, enjoy them at your leisure,
and pass them on to your friends.
If you love the Gardens, we’re waiting for
you. Bring your friends and neighbors. Get
involved and make new friends. You’ll be glad
you did.
If you have any questions, concerns or
suggestions, I am always happy to have a visit
in the Volunteer Office or chat via email
(cscaffidi@co.pinellas.fl.us) or at
727-582-2117.
Yours Truly,
Chuck Scaffidi, FBG Foundation President
